Reserved constituencies are reserved only for scheduled cast and scheduled tribes because of their backwardness and unacceptance in society thus only these people can go elect in these constituencies

Reserved constituencies:

  • A reserved constituency is one in which seats are reserved for the weaker classes - scheduled castes (SC) and scheduled tribes (ST) – depending on their population size.
  • Because the weaker parts (scheduled castes (SC) and scheduled tribes (ST) may lack the essential contacts, knowledge, and other resources to run and win elections against others, reserved constituencies are necessary.
  • To accommodate them, the introduction of electoral reservation resolves discrimination arising from their exclusion from official political institutions.
  • Within the political domain, there are differences. Its goal is to broaden India's economic base.
  • Reserved constituencies have made our Democracy more representative and more democratic.
