Given :  decimal expansion 3/96

To Find :  Correct option

a) Terminating

b) non-terminating non-recurring

c) non-terminating recurring

d) none of these

Solution:

3/96

Convert into simple fraction

= 3/ 3 * 32

= 1/32

Prime factorize 32

32 = 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 * 2

= 1 / (2 * 2 * 2 * 2 * 2)

After converting into simple fraction  if there is no prime factor other than 2 or 5  in denominator  then  fraction is said to be terminating decimal

As here  only prime factor 2 is in denominator

Hence its a terminating decimal

3/96 is terminating decimal

3/96 = 0.03125
