Types of fire which can be effectively be put out by water are as follows -

• Any kind of combustible material can catch fire easily, like dry wood, paper etc.

These fires can be easily put out by the water because water cuts off the oxygen contact which is necessary for the combustion.

• The fuel materials often catch fire in many accidental cases. These fires also can be put out by water.

Type of fire which is cannot be put out by water -

• When the electricity conducting substances catches fire we cannot use water because water will cause short circuit which will increase the fire instead of putting out.

That's why we should use sand like substances to put out electricity caused fires.
