Coachmen Ali was a clever Hunter in his young days his hunting Skills improved in years. Hunting was his passion and obession. He was gifted good sight and aim. He could see a partidge which was invisible to others, within no time it could be Ali's bag.

So, Ali was never the same as he was before Miriam's marriage there are two contrasting pictures of the same man. The transformation is quiet complete circumstances brought about this change.

In the evening of life. Ali gave up old ways and took a new turn in life. The marriage and the ultimate separation of his daughter Miriam was an irreparable loss for Ali. He realized that love was the main moral in life. The grief of separation was inescapable. This made him give up hunting.

Hunting means killing and separation. From that day, Ali started going to post-office regularly. The post-office became a pilgrimage for Ali . The clerk's made fun of him. The post man called him a mad man. Ali gave up everything he had, five guineas to Lakshmi das he ensured that Miriam's letter be put on his grave when he came Ali's boundless faith and passions was rewarded. The letter from Miriam did come and it was put in Ali's grave.
