In the poem "The Mirror " the author Sylvia Plath tells her own sad experiences of her life.

A mirror used by a woman from her childhood, narrates about itself and about about the woman. The mirror tells the real truth of life that as one ages one doesn't look beautiful anymore. One becomes uglier in appearance.

The moral is that we all age gradually, and will lose our beauty some day for sure. Not believing this truth is not good for us. We need to believe it and live in reality. Also we should not feel sad about natural ageing.

In this poem the mirror is personified. The mirror is compared with a lake into which people look, for seeking its depths. People look into the mirror for finding the depths (truths) of their physique and themselves.

Don't need to seek the candles or the moonlight to artificially beautify ourselves. Accept what the mirror shows.

Answer:

The speaker always speaks the truth. One becomes old and has wrinkles and grows big in age. In the lesson the poem says that all people grow no matter if small or big. People will lose their beauty some or the other day.
