1) Horace Danby lost his trust among the thieves because the young woman in the red dress had bluffed him by saying that she was the owner of the house and wanted the necklace as she had to go out but had forgot the lock.

She asked him to open it for her and swore to keep mum about the fact that he had come to rob.

Nevertheless, she did not do so as she herself was a thief and wanted the necklace.

Around the next day, Horace Danby was arrested for breaking open the safe and stealing the necklace.
