\textbf{Characteristics}:

1. They may be unicellular or multicellular.

2. They can't be seen with naked eyes, but are visible by microscope.

3. They are found everywhere.

4. They are capable of existing in extreme conditions of temperature and dryness by forming a hard outer covering called cyst.

5. They are useful at many sights and harmful too.

6. They have four major groups : Bacteria, Fungi, Algae, and Protozoa.
