Hydrogen and oxygen combine in the ratio of 1:8 means that 1.0g of hydrogen gas requires 8g of oxygen gas.to form water.
   therefore,8/1×3g of oxygen=24 g of oxygen

 2H₂+O₂-----> 2H₂O

2 mole of H₂ gas reacts with 1 mole of O₂ gas
3/2 mole of H₂ gas will react with 3/4 mole of O₂ gas

3/4mole of O₂ weighs,24g
So, 24 g of O₂ would be required
