Every individual is different from each other, the notion of development also varies. The difference in social and economic positions of the people generally results in different goals of development. Two individuals and groups of people may havr conflicting interests.

For example, for many people, large dams are the symbols of development and prosperity. However, building of large dams results in displacement of villagers and tribals from their homes and land. They not only lose their land and homes but also their livelihood. Therefore, villagers often resent and protest against the building of large dams. The 'Narmada bachao Andolan' is one such case, where villagers and tribals have been opposing the construction of dams.

Explanation:It is quite true. The same thing can’t be good for everyone. For example,  development may be considered as development for human beings; but it is not development for the environment, and  flora and fauna.

Another example is building of thermal or nuclear power plants. Their development may give benefit to many people by supplying them the electricity. But the people whose land was acquired, and the people living in the vicinity of these power plants, might face certain inconveniences and hazards.

In conclusion we can say, what may be development for one may not be development for the other
