Vanam Manam is an outstanding measure taken by cheif minister of Andhra Pradesh India. Where he has initiated a program in planting 1 crore saplings (young trees) in a single day in the Guntur district.
This is mainly done to increase the amount of plantation and forest cover in India from 23% to a total of 50%. Thus trees would be grown not only in universities and school but also around railway tracks and roads. Moreover the programme also encouraged the building of check and rock fill dams in order to prevent wastage of rainwater.
Therefore the whole initiative was based on planting trees and building dams in order to conserve the environment.
