meat n bread were rationed, law on maximum ceiling of wages, peasants were asked to sell their crop in cities at govt. issued prices, use of expensive white flour was forbidden, citizens had to eat pain d'égalité made of whole wheat, citoyen and citoyenne were used instead of madame n mademoisele.
