The lesson coveys many messages.

1. There is no age bar for learning.

2. When someone is determined to do something, the will always find a way.

3. We should respect our teachers no matter what background they are of.

4. Sacrificing something which means a lot to you for the happiness of others is a good thing.

5. Illiteracy often leads to someone feeling dependent, insecure, and doubtful. Therefore, literacy has a lot of power in one's life.

the story convey that there is no age to gain knowledge. we should try to gain knowledge at every moment of time. it also tell that we should respect our teachers, every if they are smaller than us in age. we should also try to understand the importance of education as the grandmother realized.
