One should not be naïve or submissive. One should follow practical approach and not fall for flattery.
Through the poem ‘The Frog and the Nightingale’ the poet Vikram Seth wants to convey the importance of self confidence. One must have faith and belief in one’s own abilities and this faith should not be shaken. The nightingale did not have this belief and she lacked self confidence so she lost her life. The frog was wicked and cunning and he easily took advantage of the nightingale’s lack of confidence to suit his own selfish ends. A foolish creature becomes an easy prey to the evil designs of a wicked creature who does not lose a single opportunity to ruin the foolish creature.
