The rime of the ancient mariner is based on the theme of sin and regret because the mariner killed albatross without any reason. He regrets on his sinful act and is cursed by his fellow-mates.
The poem conveys the meaning of sin in the Christian religion. The ancient mariner had committed a sin and other sailors supported his act by which they suffered a lot. And even afterwards, mariner had to narrate the story to everyone.
