a) Sieving- Iron filings being more smaller theough the sieve plate and sand remains on the plate as residue.

b) For sand and salt solution (slat and water)- sedimentation and decantation.

For salt solution- distilltion in distillation flask.

Thus we get sand from sedimentation and decantation, and pure water and salt from distilltion in distillation flask.

c) Winnowing- the saw dust will blow away

d) Hand picking

e) Hand picking

f) Distillation in distillation flask- water collects in the flask below after condensing from steam, leaving behind salt in the distillation flask.

g) Winnowing- straw pieces fly away

h) Sedimentation and decantation- mud settles below water being more dense, and water can be extracted by decantation.
