what might happen to the hydrogen if the bottom of the fuunel was above the surface of the liquid?

When the bottom of the funnel was above tge surface of the liquid, the hydrogen will move outside the funnel and spread over the room which is very dangerous as hydrogen gas is highly infalmmable in nature.

Metal reacts with acids such as hcl to form a salt and hydrogen gas.
