Journey by Night written by Norah Burke is a story depicting the extraordinary power of human will..If we have the determination to do something, we can always find a way to do it. Sheet Singh is hardly twelve year old boy. However, when he sees Linear, his younger brother, writhing in pain, he makes up his mind to do everything possible to comfort him and provide him relief. When their mother decides the child to send to the hospital which is fifty miles away, he knows that the situation is very serious. SherSingh decides to save his brother and takes up the Long journey through the dark forests on foot, with his brother on his back.

On the way, the boy encounters several impediments. He first comes across a cobra. He becomes motionless and backs away. The snake too retreats into the thick grass. Next, he faces a peril from a whole herds of elephants. A tusker even comes very near him; still,Sheet Singh does not turn his steps back. He wades through the icy-cold, waist deep water of the river and crosses a flooded river with a broken bridge. However, not for a moment does Sheet Singh think of giving up or returning towards home.

He. series on his journey an ultimately reaches the hospital with his brother on his back. His will power and determination to save his brother's life make him accomplish something that almost seemed impossible.

Thus, it is really the will, love and affection of Sheet Singh that insertion the story. In this way, the saying "where there is will, there is a way" is apt for the story.
