Let the number be x

1+x=3/15

x=3/15-1

x= 3-15/15

x= -12/15

x= -4/5

Hope this helps you ;)

 \frac{3}{15}  - 1

 =  \frac{3 - 15}{15}

 =  \frac{ - 12}{15}

 =  \frac{ - 4}{5}

( \frac{ - 4}{5} ) \: should \: be \: added \: to \: 1 \: to \: get \:  (\frac{3}{15} )
