what must be added to f(x) = 4x^4 + 2x^3 - 2x^2 + x -1 so that the resulting polynomial is divisible by G(x) = x^2 + 2x - 3 ?

Divide both of them 

Remainder is -61x+65

You have to add  negative of remainder 

- (-61x+65) = 61 x -65 

new equation is 4x^4 + 2x^3 - 2x^2 + 62 x - 66
