Let value would be subtracted be x

Therefore the equation would be

-3/8 + x = 5/6

(-3 + 8x)/8 = 5/6

-3 + 8x = 40/6

6(-3 + 8x ) =40

-18 + 48x = 40

48x = 40 + 18

x = 58/48

Simplify it, we get,

x = 29/24

Verify:

-3/8 +x = 5/6

-3/8 + 29/24 = 5/6

L.C.M of 8 and 24 = 24.

(-9 +29/24) = 5/6

20/24=5/6

4×5/4×6=5/6

Therefore, 5/6=5/6

Hence Proved ,
