Given:

one number = 5/16

sum = 11/8

let the another number be x

5/16 + x = 11/8

Solve:

LHS--------RHS

5/16 + x = 11/8

now take 5/16 to RHS,

it will be -5/16

x = 11/8 - 5/16

now find the LCM of the denominator it will be 16

x= 11/8 × 2/2 - 5/16

x= 22/16 - 5/16

x= \frac{22~-~5}{16}\\\\\frac{17}{16}

another number = 17/16
