Let the number be x.

Increase by 15% means, we need to add 15% of x to x itself , i e

(15/100)x + x

Now taking 100 as LCM,

(15x+100x)/100

=115x/100.———(i)

Now, A/Q, this should be equal to 276. Thus,

(115x/100 )=276

115x=276×100

115x= 27600

X=27600/15

X=240.
