A loaf of bread looks like a hill to fly as it is comparitively smaller to the bread, hence, the bread looks enormous to the tiny fly from its perspective.

The speaker in "The Fly" by Walter de la Mare attempts to see the world in terms of a fly which is a small creature in contrast with a human being.

Such pictures allow us to see how a change in perspective can make things that are beautiful, as the flower that is made into a comfortable bed and as well as frightening things to become even more menacing, like the thorn that becomes a spear
• A loaf of a bread look like a hill to a fly because a loaf of bread is much bigger than the fly. We can picture a fly landing upon a kitchen table looking up to the bread and watching it appear to go up  seemingly endlessly into the sky. The poem plays with the perspective and urges the reader to think how the world seems to creatures that are not us. The more we see life through the eyes of others, the more empathy we develop
• Different emotions are conveyed by the words "cruel leopard" and "lambkins". These final pictures remind us how important is our food, how lucky we are to benefit from the size of a fearsome creature such as wasp, and again, how lovely, bright and sweet can be something as normal as a grain of salt if we are willing to change our perspective.
