Leaf perform various important functions in a plant.... such as:-
*leaf performs photosynthesis... by which it prepares own food ...(.and as they can prepare their own food so called autotrophs)
*leaf helps in release of O2 and uptake of CO2 during day and just the reverse during night... i.e. exchange of gases through stomata....
* they are also responsible for the loss of water to the environment through stomata... the process is called transpiration.....
*some of them also stores prepared food in them ..
* they acts as an important structure for vegetative propagation....
hope it helps you.....
