The three friends planned to take a boat trip on the river Thames. This would help them to get some fresh air, exercise and a quiet time. Montmorency objected to the boat trip because he never liked the river. He would not have anything much to do on the boat, he was not fond of scenery and did not smoke. But as the vote was three to one the trip was finally approved.
