2)consumption of alcohol should be avoided

3)fried items, milk products, roasted food should be taken in limited quantity

4)avoid hot baths, hot showers when swelling occurs

5)regular exercises and meditation should be practiced regularly

6)avoid junk foods

7)reducing the amount of salt in the diet

8)massage the edema effected area with firm pressure towards that heart which helps to move the excess fluid away from swelling

  • We should suggest the elders to not sit in the same position for a long time.
  • A person who is at the risk of edema should also move his legs frequently.
  • Taking  a low salt diet is also another precautionary measure that needs to be taken during edema.
  • We should also advice the elders to exercise regularly so that focus can be developed.
