.
.
The Reasons of F
1. Many zamindars tortured the common men for failing to deposit revenue. At times, they also inflicted barbaric cruelty on the farmers to extort their money.
2. At times of drought, flood and famine they had to deposit fixed revenue. They were at the mercy of the Zamindar.
3. While fixing revenue the company’s officials took no notice of the type of soil, irrigation facilities and other characteristics of crop production.
4. The revenue was fixed without considering the productive capacity of the plot as same production could not take place every season.
5. The landlords cheated govt by raising more revenue than was fixed to benefit themselves.
6. Zamindar also, to earn more, in read the land under cultivation to earn more for themselves..
7. Polygamy, adultery and kulinism were other means of exploitation adopted by Zamindar.
8. This system was neither proved beneficial for government nor the peasants got benefits. fOnly the middle man Landlords benefitted from this settlement as they used to extort more money than the Britishers had asked them to deposit.

.
We can say that their were the basic inherent shortcoming that were bound to surface ultimately to fail this system.
