In the olden days, and even now in some villages, parents prefer to send their sons to school and educate them rather than their daughters who are kept at home and made to do the domestic household chores and take care of the other children. They believe that boys will grow and get jobs and become the bread earners of the household whereas the daughters must be married offf at an early age.
