Electronegativity of an element measures the capacity of an element to gain electrons. Since gain of electrons is a tendency of Non metals, Electro negativity measures the non metallic property of elements. Higher electro negativity, Higher the non metallic nature. Fluorine in the most electro negative element.
it also depicts
•Electron Affinity.(tendency of an element to attract paired electrons)
•ionisation energy (energy required to remove an electron from a mole of isolated gaseous atoms of a element/compound)
•Also look up electron gain enthalpy.
