Neutron consists of one up quark with
charge +2/3 e and two down quarks each with charge -1/3 e, so the total
charge of 3 quarks is zero. Hence a neutron is neutral.

Neutrons have no charge because they are present in nucleus and the charge on nucleus is positive.
When we come to know abt the alpha particles scattering experiment we know that in the nucleus there are protons but the neutrons are between protons if their charge is negative they will attract each other and if their charge is positive they will repel each other so their net charge is zero
