Cardiac myocytes or muscle cell has two types of functions.
1) electrical : to pass action potential (depolarization+repolarization) from one myocytes to another.After action potential is conducted, myocytes execute
2) mechanical function : contraction and relaxation.When atria contracts blood is forced into ventricles and when ventricular muscles contracts then blood is ejected into aorta from left ventricle and into pulmonary trunck from right.
