There were many reasons which Macbeth thought for not killing Duncan. Duncan was his kinsman so he thought that killing him would be a betrayal. Also, Macbeth feared that he might not be able to run away from the murder.
Reasons that Macbeth had in mind for not killing Duncan
- Although Macbeth wanted to be the King, yet he decided not to kill Duncan as he feared that he would have to pay for any bad action that he does.
- Macbeth also realized that Duncan was his kinsman and his bad deed will haunt him forever if he killed Duncan.
- Macbeth realizes that the king, Duncan, trusted him and hence it was his moral duty to be loyal to him and not to kill him.
- He also had a fear that he might get caught and get into trouble.
