The infiltration of water is prevented because:
Explanation:
- Desert soil is also called sandy soil.
- It is porous and has a high concentration of of silica, sodium and calcium.
- It has low water-holding capacity.
- As silica have low affinity for water, they can unable to bind to water molecules by adhesive binding.
- This is the reason it is unable to retain water in association with it.
- This is also the reason why the deserts are dry.
