Here are the types of friction and how they relate to badminton.

Sliding Friction:

when a player hits the ball at the wrong angle, then the ball often falls to the ground and slides for a bit until sliding friction pulls it to a stop.

Rolling Friction:

On the same note, when a player drops the ball, commonly it rolls on the ground before stopping due to rolling friction.

Fluid Friction:

Whenever a badminton "birdie" is tossed into the air, or is hit by a racket, it moves through air. Badminton is unlike other sports because the purpose of it is to increase the time in the air, unlike most other sports, such as soccer and tennis. This also explains the badminton birdie's unusual shape, since the tail is used to increase the drag and keep the front of the shuttlecock forward

Static Friction:

The force that keeps the racket from falling out of the player's hands is static friction. Also, static friction is what is keeping the players from sliding uncontrollably on the court.
