Suppose your game of choice is football. Here, when you kick the football, it starts out with a velocity v₁. As time progresses however, due to the force of friction acting on the body, the velocity will decrease until v₂ = 0 m/s and the ball will stop.

This can impact whether you score a goal or not, or whether the ball reaches your teammate or not.
