What role does opposition party play in a democracy?

hi,

Mainly, the party who looses election play the role of opposition. they assure that the party in power does not abuse it's power.  it also keeps a close vigil ont the expenditure of the government.

the opposition party criticises the ruling party...it also opposes the laws and decision taken by the ruling party... this leads to have the better decisions by the ruling party so that no one can criticise it....it helps in the development of the country....
