FSH of anterior pituitary brings about the growth of ovarian follicle .The maturing ovarian follicle produces estrogen.

Estrogen stimulates LH secretion along with FSH from anterior pituitary.

LH surge causes ovulation.

The empty follicle is converted into corpus luteum by LH hormone.

Corpus luteum secrets steroidal hormones progesterone and estrogen for growth and maintenance of uterine endometrium for possible implantation.
