a quantity expressing a body,s tendancy to resist angular acceleration ,which is the sum of the products of the mass of each particle in the body with the square of its distance from the axis of rotation

Moment of inertia is the resistance of an object to changes in its rotational motion. 

It is also called rotational inertia. 

The moment of inertia is to rotational motion as the mass is to translational motion.
