Mass is denoted by 'm'.Its units are 'kg' or 'g'.
Weight is denoted by 'W'.Its units are 'kgm/s²' or 'gcm/s²'.
Weight is defined as product of mass and acceleration due to gravity.
Mass is defined as weight per acceleration due to gravity.

1.Mass vs 2.Weight

Definition

1.Mass is the quantity of matter in a body regardless of its volume or of any forces acting on it.
2.Weight is a measurement of the gravitational force acting on an object.

Effect of gravity

1.Mass is always constant at any place and any time.
2.The weight of an object depends on the gravity at that place.

Unit of Measurement

1.Mass is expressed in kilogram (kg), grams (g), and milligram (mg).
2.Weight is expressed in Newton (N).

Balance used for measurement

1.Mass is measured using a pan balance, a triple-beam balance, lever balance or electronic balance.
2.Weight is measured using a spring balance.
Type of quantity.

1.Scalar and base quantity.
2.Vector and derived quantity.
