Vegetative propagation is a type of asexual reproduction in plants in which one parent is involved and offspring is produced as a result.

The procedure includes the use of the vegetative parts of a plant such as roots, stems, bulb or leaves. These vegetative parts are removed from parent plant and grow in a separate pot contained all the nutrients required for the growth process.

Similarly, in case of garlic the bulb is the unit of vegetative propagation. It has basal plate which gives rises to new roots.
