In order to appeal and engage audience a speaker must note following. Following are the explanation or whether to follow the mentioned points or not:
a) Using big vocabulary: Usage of vocabulary depends on the knowledge of the audience. For example, if a speaker is in a lowly educated audience and uses big vocabulary, the audience would loose interest as they would be unable to most of it.
b)Plenty of time for audience to question: Engaging audience is important, however it depends on what sort of event is the speaker present at. For example, at a speech competition there is no need to allow audience to question as much as possible. Yet at trainings, workshops etc. It is important for the speaker to not only give time for the audience to ask questions but also be friendly enough for them to be comfortable to ask.
c)Understanding the audience expectations: The key to become a good speaker is to understand the knowledge and expectations of the audience. For example, you cannot go to a musical event and talk about politics etc.
d)Holding back information: Too much information may confuse the audience(depending on their knowledge). However, yet again the event being catered matters as well. Some events require more information than the other.
