Let x should be added.

 -  \frac{1}{3}  + x =  \frac{1}{2}  \\  \\ x =  \frac{1}{2}  +  \frac{1}{3}  \\  \\  \\ x =  \frac{3 + 2}{6}  \\  \\  \\ x =  \frac{5}{6}

Hence, 5/6 should be added.

let the number to be added be x
according to the question
-1/3+x=1/2
x=1/2+1/3
x=1*3/2*3+1*2/3*2
x=3/6+2/6
x=5/6
