Let the no. added be a

12/5+a = 3
2.4 + a = 3
a = 0.6

let the number be x

\bf \frac{12}{5}+x=3\\\\\rightarrow x=3-\frac{12}{5}\\\\\rightarrow x = \frac{15-12}{5}\\\\\rightarrow x=\frac{3}{5}

Hence the number is \frac{3}{5}
