Hi there!

.........................................

Let the expression that needs to be added to (2a square+ab+b) be x

({2a}^{2}  + ab + b) + (x) =  {3a}^{2}  + 4ab
x = ( {3a}^{2}  + 4ab) - ( {2a}^{2}  + ab + b) \\ x =  {3a}^{2}  + 4ab -  {2a }^{2}  - ab - b \\  x =  {a}^{2}  + 3ab - b
There the expression that has to be added to 2a square + ab +b to get 3a square+4ab is a square +3ab-b.
