so terms are 4+x and 9+x

4+x/9+x = 1/2

Cross multiplication

2(4+x)=1(9+x)

8+2x = 9+x

2x-x = 9-8

Therefore, x = 1 .

So, you need to add in each term on both sides of ratio to make it 1: 2 .

Like

=4+1:9+1

=5:10

=1:2
