So p(x) = x² + 5x + 4 + n          is the polynomial.

p(3) = 3² + 5(3)+ 4 + n = 0 (As per the question, we need to make 3 the zero of the polynomial.

9 + 15 + 4 + n = 0

=> 28 + n = 0

=> n = - 28

Therefore n must be -28.
