Bunds on farms are the protective structures built along the periphery to prevent water from seeping either into or out of the farm. It is generally made of earth and clay or from bags filled with sand which are stacked up.

To ensure that the bunds themselves are not washed away, the following options are available:

1. When using earthen bunds, try grow plants on it since they do not allow water to easily erode the bund.

2. Add manual reinforcements such as more sand-bagging or steel structures.

Bunds are used as a barrier in the field for the grown crops so that the runoff can remain safe from the external forces.

Also, they help in slowing down the whole sheet flow that helps in the infiltration process.

They can be protected with building them in a site that is mainly topography in shape.

Hence, the flood water can easily flow off.
