Let the side of of the square be x
Express the area of the square in term of x:
Area of a square = Length x Length
Area of a square = Length²
Area of a square = x²
Express the perimeter of the square in term of x:
Perimeter = 4 x Length
Perimeter = 4x
Solve x:
Given that the area = perimeter
x² = 4x
x² - 4x =0
x(x - 4) = 0
x = 0 or x - 4 = 0 [ reject x = 0 since length cannot be 0 ]
x - 4 = 0
x = 4
Answer: The length of the side is 4 cm
