The hypothalamus is a portion of the brain that contains a number of small nuclei with a variety of functions. One of the most important functions of the hypothalamus is to link the nervous system to the endocrine system via the pituitary gland. If it is removed, it would do serious and irreversible damage, that would probably lead to, at the very best, being bedridden and dependent on medical machinery for life, and in all likelihood to death. Hormones are essential for almost all of the processes of our body, and a complete loss of neural regulation of hormones would disrupt all bodily processes to an extreme degree.

Hope it helps:)
