What similarities do you notice in today’s democratic system and Ganarajya of the ancient times?

The main similarity is that the elections of officials are held to lead the government and they are selected by majority vote.  

Both forms of government use a representational system where citizens have the right to vote and elect the politicians to represent in their interest and form the government.
